What a lot of work it was learning to put together a blog, a website and an ecommerce site all in the same two weeks; I feel accomplished and excited for things to come. The 2013 farmer's market season is quickly winding down for us...only three more Saturday's left of our season. We feel a bit sad to see it end but are already dreaming and planning for 2014 so our hands and minds are busy! Here are a few pictures to show you what's been going on over at the new property.
Cheri aka The Bare Naked Farmers Wif
The Bare Naked Farmer has been busy; he just completed planting over 7,000 cloves of garlic for the 2014 season. The seed he plants are our own that we save from the prior year's production to replant again. Saving seed not only saves money it assures a quality product that becomes more and more acclimated to our local soil and growing conditions each year.
On hands and knees each clove (over 7,000) were carefully planted by Eric over the past several weeks. He has more than doubled what was planted last season to be sure to have enough for the farmer's market season and our new Holland Ranch Farm Share CSA members! If you have ever had our garlic you will agree that it's some of the freshest and tastiest around. In addition to the variety that we have grown over the past three seasons Eric has sourced two additional varieties that we are very excited about for next year.
Did you know that we won Second Prize with our Organic Holland Ranch Garlic this year at the Antelope Valley Fair and Alfalfa Festival?
