Hello everybody!
I'm not sure how it's the 6th month of the year already...I guess that running a farm and working full time off the farm at our 'real jobs' makes the time pass very quickly. Know body can say that there is grass growing under our feet!
So much has happened since my last post...probably more that you want to read about so I will give you the short story today and try to post recipes and the things that you are most interested in more frequently from here on out.
Our market stand at the Antelope Valley Winery farmers market is off to a great start this year! Opening day of the 2014 season was on Saturday, May 3, 2014; it was SO GOOD to get out there and see all of our friends again! Thank you so much for those of you who support us! If you haven't been to this great local farmers market you must come out soon! The market runs every Saturday from the first Saturday in May through the last Saturday in November from 9:00am to noon. This is the best market in our area and offers a really great variety of vendors including: locally grown certified organic produce, locally grown conventionally grown produce, avocados and citrus from San Diego, local honey, local lavender, yummy pies from Tehachapi, nuts & dried fruits, homemade soaps, tamales to die for, a real French bakery (amazing chocolate croissants!), humus, quiche, live plants, fresh fish and more!

Holland Ranch Farm Share CSA deliveries have begun!
On Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 7:00am our members excitedly began showing up at Holland Ranch to pick their first box. So far we have had rave reviews from our members and even sold a few new shares after the first week! The box contents will evolve as the season progresses so something new is always on its way. A selection of colored carrots, rainbow chard, collard greens, 3 types of kale, radishes, butter lettuce, romaine lettuce, salad mix, shelling peas, fresh spring garlic, sweet onions, red & green scallions, cilantro, bok choy and early summer squash were included in the boxes during the first three weeks. As the temperature rises members will see a change in the variety of veggies included in their shares. Most everyone can't wait until the tomatoes are ripe especially us! More information about CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) can be found on the Holland Ranch website or you can click to Become a Member. If you are committed to eating seasonally, locally, organically and healthy CSA membership is probably for you. Check it out!
